Taste of Quebec
Published in Paperback by Macmillan of Canada (May, 1990)
Author: Julian Armstrong
Average review score:

A Great Book!
I bought this book last March to recreate some favorite dishes for my French Canadian boyfriend here in Los Angeles. We have made several dishes together, and all were proclaimed a great success (by him, the expert taster!). It is an enjoyable book as well, dividing the culinary landscape into regions with intros etc. that made me more educated about Quebec regional cooking. I highly recommend this book.

A Taste of Quebec Is a Picture of French-Canadian Cuisine
French-Canadians and New England's Franco-Americans will be delighted with the presentation in this supberb cookbook because the recipes reflect the traditions of the French culture in North America. Pictures are beautiful and a history of each dish is provided.

An Uncommon Enemy
Published in Hardcover by Forge (September, 2001)
Author: Michelle Black
Average review score:

A piercing look at a woman's courage
Michelle Black has written a fine novel about a woman caught between two worlds, Indian and white. The heroine refuses to compromise her humanity, her charity, or her love, and as a result finds herself in trouble with the cavalry, and especially General Custer. This is a marvelous depiction of military ambition so ruthless that it overrides all decency, and a good woman's response to it. I found myself caught up in a drama that throws light upon the Indian Wars, and the politics surrounding them. Michelle Black will win a wide readership.

A penetrating look at the Indian wars
Michelle Black has penned an absorbing and rich novel of the Indian wars, focusing especially on General Custer's obsessive quest for glory, which soon trumps truth and decency. The heroine of this story is a woman of innate decency, who refuses to compromise herself, her ideals, or her fate, no matter what pressures are applied to her. This is an outstanding and deeply moving novel about courage, honesty, and a woman's charity toward others.

Visual Pathways to the Inner Self

Author: Ketih Armstrong
Average review score:

Powerful Guide to reflective self mentoring
Dr. Armstrong's powerful photographs take the reader to a place many of us do not have time to visit - our inner self. The text is beautfully written, flowing in a warm smooth way. This draws you into yourself and therefore, into the reflective self mentoring process. Although the book prompts one to consider discrimination in the relfective self mentoring process, this book's intent is to encourage you as a reader to consider what is dearest to your heart - and hopefully that is yourself. We all have some level of discrimination and issues with diversity. This book allows us to reflect upon those as well as all that we are. What a powerful book!

A wonderful view of the world through a new "lens"
Armstrong photographs with gentle intent to promote thought on the subject of discrimination.

The Way We Played the Game: A True Story of One Team and the Dawning of American Football
Published in Paperback by Sourcebooks Trade (September, 2002)
Author: John Armstrong
Average review score:

Excellent Book, I can't put it down
This is an excellent book for all ages. John Armstrong pulls you right in to a classic story about the 1902 Benton Harbor football team as they struggle through every dangerous, harsh game after another. This book is an excellent gift for football fans and even people who just share our passion and the love of the game. Football fan or not, this is an excellent novel and an excellent piece of culture. After you read this book, the games will never end.

A Wonderful Read
This book is fantastic, especially for someone who understands football. It is technical regarding football, but the story, which is true, develops beautifully. I couldn't put this book down, and I absolutely fell in love with the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves great books and great football.

Average review score:

A "must" for the needlecraft library.
A highly recommended pick for those involved in quilting and home decoration projects, Carol Armstrong's Wild Birds contains over twenty full-size patterns and directions for 8 projects, providing beautiful bird images which range from titmouse and hummingbird to orioles and swallows. The attention to birding detail provides more depth and ideas than most.

A Must for the applique library
Carol Armstrong does it again with her second book. The patterns and examples are stunning. Carol has a knack for designing applique that is visually complex and yet, can be accomplished with basic hand applique skills. These are absolutely the best bird designs out there for applique. These designs are not intended for the "heat-n-bond" quilter, but for the beauty of hand applique. This book inspires and is sure to be a classic for the bookshelf.

Wildflowers: Designs for Applique & Quilting
Published in Paperback by C & T Pub (April, 1998)
Authors: Carol Armstrong, Annie Nelson, and Diana Roberts
Average review score:

Beautiful applique
The applique designs are lovely, realistic, and disarmingly simple. Watch out for small applique pieces. The individual flower designs seem to me to work better than the larger composition pieces shown, but all in all a refreshing new look.

Wonderful, realistic, wild flowers.
The author and designer of this book has a great sense of humor. Her designs are realistic and her technique is simple and easy to understand. Gone is the pressure to be perfect because nature is not perfect. The color plates give excellent ideas on use of the various line drawings. Designs are presented so they may be mixed to create a realistic flower garden appearance.

Antoinette Gabriel of "Soul Purposed" Minitries
This women of God was and is truly a vessel of The Most High. You've Got The Power, breathed life into the phase "I'm going in to bring others out." It allows us and showed me that once you've been delivered from your sick bed - get up, there's someone else who's lying in one and needs to know about the power and virtue that raised you up. She's unlocked the door of bondage with the key of deliverence, to let others know there's a way out, and that You've Got the Power to get out.

I'm expecting to here more from this anointed women of God, I place a demand on her anointing even now in the name of Jesus!

Excellent
This book opened up many areas of understanding of deliverance. Without a shadow of doubt, I realized that I truly have the power through Christ Jesus. This book is scripturally based and is clear. This is an excellent book to minister in the area of deliverance. Every deliverance minister should have a copy of this book in their library. We are truly delivered to deliver and we do have THE POWER!

Positive Effective Strategy Overview
Excellent overview of what ADD/ADHD is and interesting theory on how the label was created. Since I believe it is necessary to look at the whole picture on any research, I appreciate that Armstrong takes into account the WHOLE child when discussing the ADD/ADHD child/person. I am looking for a successful plan as an educator. Armed with this global plan and exhaustive bibliography and references, I am on my way. I appreciate that he really seems to understand and care for the WHOLE child labeled with ADD/ADHD. A MUST HAVE FOR ANY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EDUCATOR!
